Easter is the most significant religious holiday in Russia. This special season provides a unique opportunity to share the message of Jesus Christ’s life, death and resurrection with an amazingly receptive audience. During the Easter season, SOAR delivers hundreds of gift-filled Baskets (i.e. tote bags, backpacks, etc.) and Bibles to at-risk children throughout Russia and Abkhazia.
Baskets of Hope began as a project to minister to the children who survived the 2004 terrorist tragedy in Beslan, Russia. SOAR’s Director, Richard Page traveled there during the Easter season to rekindle true HOPE in Christ and minister to children and families who were in deep despair. Since that time, Baskets of Hope has developed into a strategic opportunity to share the Good News of Christ’s resurrection with needy children in many other regions of Russia and Abkhazia during Russia’s Easter season.
